It seems when it comes to being an owner operator people say to go completely independent or go to Landstar. But what about companies that hire owners? I saw this ad that looks amazing... does it seem possible?:

I just get my own truck and off I go basically? I was wondering what the catch is if there is one.

Lease on to a company for a couple of years then strike out on your own. Study the www.OOIDA.com website to learn the business end of being an owner-operator.
I have no plans to be an 0/0, but if I did would buy a truck and lease on to Cardinal/Greatwide or A&R Logistics. My first choice would be A&R Logistics and buy a used truck spec'd for their operation.

Be cautious with stuff on Craigslist, there's a lot of less than desirable people on there. The fact that they never included their company name in the ad is a red flag for me.

No company name; what are they hiding?

Hard to say, maybe nothing. But why wouldn't they put that in the ad?

$5000-$7000 a week gross, $1.80-$2.10 a mile average according to the ad, doesn't say if that's to the truck or before the company takes their 15% of it.

    OOwannaBE and Chinatown Thank this.

One question, if they are so great why do the have to advertise for trucks, should have a wating list to hire on.

Based on the little map it's near the Chicago area so maybe. Do you know about them?

Hey I do not know if all craigslist are the same! However, one time I went to answer one about a woman who was 5 feet 5 inches and weighing 122 when I got there she was 5 feet 5 inches weighing 322 could have been a typo. However, I would proceed with caution! Also, if it was such a great deal why would they need to post on a shady website?
