I made 28k my first year, but I was only making 26 cpm.
Starting pay is nearly 1/3 higher now, so starting out a driver should make closer to 40k.
That was over 5 years ago.
And, that is assuming a fairly lazy driver - like I am.

And that is not too bad, considering what the education costs and the time involved in getting there.

Battle it out every week, becoming more effecient and effective at what you do. And I believe this industry gives you the ability based upon your ability to perform effeciently, to make more money based upon your ability to move freight to max efficiency within the system that governs it.

Take it week by week and eventually you can string together more and more efficient days and the money will follow

    spectacle13 and k1221n2 Thank this.

First year gross $44,000, but insurance for wife and myself is$ 710@month so $35,000. On a dedicated route now in second year but beware you need to keep careful track of appt. times, hours and miles, they find reasons to not pay weekly bonus wherever they can, and bonuses equal $7200@ yr.

It's 35. Since I have been around... Almost a year now.

I get all kinds of extra pay on a dedicated account. Dry van, department store.

I'm up against my 14 clock five nights a week.

Pay range is $480-870 each week.
    Most weeks 520-640.

I don't think it is good at all. Alot of good things happened for me here, new truck, dedicated account, weekends off, etc.

I can't complain, rookie year was pretty freakin good to me at swift.

But it is my opinion, no one should be doing this job for less than 1-1.5k each week.
