    Really?
I wasn't responding to a light hearted response.

The cameras are here, and here to stay.
If you try to fight in that way you will simply be fired.

More and more companies are bringing them in, and they will probably be mandated for any sizeable company soon enough - by insurance companies if no one else.
    Get used to it.

The larger companies control the market, not the smaller ones.
More and more of them are getting forced out.
That is the way of 'progress', and it will only get worse in the future.

Insurance companys would not want driver facing ones. To easy to get nailed to the wall.

    Other way around.
That want to catch drivers doing things that they don't like.

In a wreck they wont want to see the driver incriminated, it will cost them $$ and no defense. Its a gamble and insurance company's hate gambles.

What, hate gambles. Your medical insurance, gamble that something does not happen, you car. A company that is self insured would rather have the cam so that they can prove that the driver did nothing wrong. More and more with the dash cams people are having problems saying that it was the trucks fault when the atty sees the footage and then tells the client, STFup

It's really all about paying less claims. If it can be proven the driver was doing something wrong, the insurance is off the hook. Mr and Mrs. Victim can take the driver to civil court to get their millions.

To get their millions off the driver? @scottied67 you know as well as I, you can't get blood out of a turnip: just like you can't get millions out of a company driver! Now as far as you big time owner operators are concerned....? LOL

Yes I agree can't get blood from a turnip. Imagine if that Walmart driver had a cam in his truck, do you think Walmart would have settled with Tracy Morgan and the other guy's family? They would say, look, we have Elogs, we have a driver cam, we did everything we could to be safe, get your money from the driver. Even Walmart's insurance companies are refusing to reimburse Walmart for the settlements. Walmart and every truck company out there is going to say, wow driver cams are cheaper than settlements especially when they go after drivers instead of us.

They will still be able to sue the company. Whether or not the driver cam proves the driver was at fault, the driver is a representative of the company therefore the company bears some responsibility. After all, the company hired the driver. Ask any attorney, when there is a law suit filed, they sue every party possible to make sure they get every possible cent. They'll even sue the truck manufacturer in case it can be proven there was a mechanical malfunction.

    scottied67 Thanks this.
