I love this forum. I run two myself, and really appreciate what this forum provides. I just finished a PTDI Certified School, passed my CDL exam, and have good certs. I also have another career. I am currently an IT Manager for a healthcare company, and am going to stay where I am for the near term - probably around 4 years.
That said, I am wanting to drive part time. Mostly weekends. I have been looking for positions and have found a couple of hiker positions locally, but thought I would reach out to the collective wisdom of the forum for other ideas. I have considered:
Any other suggestions that you all might have?
- RV Delivery for other companies
- RV Delivery/setup via myself
- Hiker for Penske/Ryder
- Bluebloodhound.com for hire
Thanks in advance
Chris

You will have to be careful running two jobs, you may end up having to use a log, and the hours worked at your 1st job may count. Try to find one possibly that will keep you within a 100 mile radius of where you start from and don't cross state lines.

@toomanymiles - hiker positions.

Its always nice to know where these guys are at because if they want to do the RV thing, maybe being in Arizona might be difficult for a weekend job.

Why did you pay for a PTDI school?
Why do you think their is money in part-time RV delivery?
Are you working a 9-5? At what time of the day you suppose Penski/Ryder is calling out for hikers?
Do you thing Bluebloodhound is every going to amount to anything? -
Almost all of the part-time jobs I have seen for CDL A positions are looking for 1 or 2 years experience, with some specifically wanting OTR experience. It's an insurance issue.
You may want to look at farms and small agri-business operations. Some of them will put you behind the wheel seasonally/weekends without experience. -

You should get hooked up with a temp driver agency like DriverStaff.
If you don't get a driving job within a few months of completing school, you'll have to go back to school all over again. That schooling is only good for about three months then it's useless. Insurance companies and mega trucking companies do a great job of keeping most rookie job pay very low.
