I Shift

    A friend of mine runs Volvo FH16's on abnormal lowboy trailers.
    They run at about 300 000lbs with I-Shift.
    He swears by them and he can be very critical at the best of times.
    Lightning fast smooth shifts are what is needed at that weight he says.
    It is a common held belief here that the I-Shift is the best automated manual around.
    I don't have any , my only Volvo has a geartronic and I have a few trucks with ZF Astronic.
    They have their good points.
    I have only heard good things about the I-Shift.

    Logging is not for sissies!!!!!

    Volvo does not offer D16 with manual, becouse they concider FH16 and VN 16 be overpovered and they say wrong shifting may easily damage tranny so they offer D16 with i-shift only

    there are a few models of Ishift u can equip ur truck with, make sure u get the one with the highest torque rating

    You can get a FH 16 at 610hp with manual transmission here.
    I only know of one and they had to wait 8 months for it.
    Don't know why they wanted a manual.
    The route they drive is a a 2000km round trip that is probably flattest with almost zero hills.

    Also used on heavy work 200 to 250 000lbs lowbed work.

    yeah king q is right volvo offers manual transmission ( vt2814) up to fh16 600(612hp) and 610 for e3 markets

    also on 540(550) and 550



    ishift can be spec. up to 200t or 440 000lbs

    it would be nice if they offered it with crawler gears

    only 2 things i dont like on ishift

    first it almost does not offer driver to shift it manually on older versions if you want to make manual correction of gear you must change it to M and than change gear

    but even if you shift it manually it always do something by its will

    second it always start in very high gears from standstill

    one friend of my father have 3xfh440 with 2.85diff 315/70 tires and truck fully loaded (88200) starts in 5 or 6th gear depending on situation

    as for volvo manual transmission as i already write somewhere they are not very strong only up to 2800nm in last few gears in lower gears it is only 2500

    however ishift is not perfect i know that this is used world wide in some very hard condition like here

    brasil is now largest market for ishift

    it is used on road train application in australia in syberia in dubai......

    but it cannot be used in indonesian coal mines where they haul 200t on mud very steep hills
