Since most of my extensive trucking career has been driving off-road in the oil patch, I was thinking about getting into the Canadian ice road trucking scene during the 3 or 4 month winter season. I've tried to do my own internet research but the results I get are ambiguous; I have yet to find specific companies with job postings (a lot of results are aimed at selling me information.) I feel that ice road trucking would be a good transition for me and will help further my driving skills. Anyone have any first-hand insight, leads, or contacts for breaking into the ice road trucking industry? Thanks in advance.

Are you legal to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, work visa)? Even if you are, don't hold your breath; there are many hundreds of very experienced Canadian drivers (i.e., oil patch refugees) who are, or will be, looking for work this winter.

I wached an episode on the tube last night, poor drivers hit miles of "bumpy ice"...they were bouncing in the cab like basketballs.....That has to be a back breaker. Not for me.
