I'd hate to be the Celadon safety manager right about now

If it started rolling from the top of the Rockey Mountains and hit a car in Texas, maybe it was going really really fast.

Maybe not that fast, but the police estimated the truck speed at about 30 mph at impact. That, then the victims got pushed down an embankment, so it wasn't just a simple strike.

Agree with you there , troop. I've had officers ASK me before (late 80s) if I could spare anything to help them make it through the night shift. That was back when things were a LOT different than they are now and many of us trucked pretty hard. They knew it. One in particular asked me this after I had passed a rest area level 3 and I said " I personally don't have anything , sir , but if you were to come back in a while and check inside the cup behind that fire hydrant over there you might get lucky".

That was a long time ago and I've never forgotten it. I quit that junk many moons back and don't miss it. It must have been what gave me the balls to give it to him. No way would I do that now !

It is really sad, If he is found guilty of all of those charges he will be gone for a while.

If he had done the same thing here in Quebec he would have done very little time in jail, here you could kill and get away with it!

Because the plant where he was parked is on a very steep grade above US 41 (I have passed this spot many times). Georgia has more than a few hills when you get to Atlanta and points north.
