Ok so i emailed the s.o.s of illinois but i dont want to wait till monday. Im hoping one of you guys know. So lets say i buy a truck..now if i go to jb hunt they give o/o their plates. Lets say i quit 1 year later. How do i obtain my plates? Website says title (its a bank loan 4 years) or proof of sale 6 months old max. Anyone have an idea? Im like totally lost how to get plates if i quit.

Yes you will get a certificate of title. Might be called something else in your state, but it's the same thing.

Also, if you can, get a copy of the Original Title front and back. Many companies will want this in order to lease you on.

In Illinois you can only get IRP plates from Springfield. Call them if you have a question.

If purchasing a truck from out of state, the fee for transferring it to Illinois is about $1500 (or was in Jan. 2015). Plus add over $2k for the plate.
