Apparently the insurers are striking back against the manufacturers, and in particular against their policies regarding totaled vehicles. Yes, we all know totals should never happen, but they do, and at least a couple of the manufacturers have ridiculously low percentages they assign to salvage vehicles, costing insurers thousands of dollars at a time on diminished value claims. And so it would seem the letters on non-renewal have started to arrive in mailboxes here and there.
Shouldn't affect you guys on the used car side, but everyone on the new car side should start to think about options, as diminished value policies will be either non-existent or priced beyond reach. Just an early heads up.
Insurance issues are coming.
