intermittent windshield wiper problems

i have a 2011 670 and having a issue with my wipers. they work fine on full or fast but the intermittent craps out a lot. they will work fine for for a while and then suddenly stop working then suddenly start working again. they may not work for 5 min or may not work for 5 days. i was told by a dealer it was the switch on the steering column so i bought a new one and worked fine for a few days and they quit again. check the fuse its fine and swapped around the relay and still nothing. any ideas?

not the wiring. took the bottom plastic cover off to get at the wires and had to wait a while for them to quit. they finally did and i checked all the wires unplugged the switch, plugged it back in and no luck. BUT i did have my orig switch in the truck so i unplugged the new switch and plugged in the old one and they worked again. so i unplugged the old switch and plugged the new one back in and the ^%$#& things worked again. kinda leads me to believe the switch itself is freezing up and unplugging them for a short time unfreezes it.

 

i thought that too but it only messes up on the intermittent and not when its on full. when it craps out they still run on full.

 

checked all those. no luck
