I think it's against EOE rules but I would like to be enlighten
but a certain OTR company lists that you must be a resident of their local city and that's for OTR work, that should not be a requirement.
is it legal for an OTR company to require an employee to be a local resident

Maybe they want drivers near their drop yard?
I believe employers have to right to hire anybody they want. -
Their company, their rules. They are NOT discriminating based upon race, sex, religion, or any other protected areas.
You want to work for them? Move. Or find another carrier.drvrtech77, Longarm, joseph1135 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't see the big deal, you're not listed in their hiring area, apply elsewhere. It's not illegal.

or so i have heard.Plantfoam, AModelCat, Cottonmouth85 and 4 others Thank this. -
Pattyj said it! All carriers have hiring areas. You have to live in one of their hiring states or within so many miles of a terminal. Take maverick for example. I'm pretty sure they're out of Arkansas but their glass division hires out of ny state and the surrounding areas. They do flatbed and you are responsible for finding safe storage for your rig. Where ever you go the truck goes. So yes some companies will require you to live within a certain distance of them
