I see. The reason I asked is because I'm actually planning on relocating to Los Angeles soon, and looking at their website it says the Fontana yard is dry van only.
And I'll be sure to keep that advice in mind
Is Knight any good to start out with?

Wasn't that the company that one of the drivers went in and killed his boss and shot up the place about a year ago?
I think they also had a law suit against them for unfair lease program or something.
I don't know. -

Switching divisions is difficult. I had to quit and be gone for six months to switch from reefer to dry. I couldn't handle the really long waits at shippers and receivers on the reefer side. Just my personal choice.
DRAGON64 Thanks this. -
What terminal did you run out of when you ran reefer BlueGenie? Also do you think that since reefer might be more in demand that if I start out in dry van I may have an easier time doing the opposite of your switch? Lastly, how often as a reefer driver were you given a non-reefer load?

Well, I'm now almost-committed to Knight. I'll be going in for orientation next Monday 29/8 and start in Phoenix on Tuesday 9/6. I was told that since Tulsa is my home terminal I'll have to go into the dry van side since they don't have reefer.
I also did manage to get a preliminary acceptance from Prime yesterday, but I decided to go with Knight because their training process isn't as lengthy (in particular you don't need to drive team with your instructor for 2 to 3 months). Also Knight's school is about $1000 cheaper, and while it's not forgiven, I believe they don't force you into a year long commitment like Prime does.
Since this part of the forum seems to be pretty dead I'll most likely be creating a thread to describe the orientation and training process to help other people out. -
Found some words of wisdom last night on the shower door, thought I would share. Someone was frustrated you can tell.
DRAGON64, MrIT, drvrtech77 and 3 others Thank this. -
Hahahaha!

The amount of V-bloggers Knight has bought in the last couple of months is enough to make you back off. Can you make money driving for Knight? Sure. But you'd make more driving a trash truck and be home every night and in most cases full benefits.
