Do you only see cities out of the corner of your eye?,
Do you only get to be on the outskirts of cities on truck stops far away from the cool local places
Do you only get to be at those crappy far away truck stops for your non driving down time.

I'm on the spread out west so my guess that it might be different back east.

I was thinking , spelling looks correct to me before I saw the next post.

Paid tourist , no not nearly accurate.
You have to make an effort and have some flexibility to take advantage of the paid traveling.
Most OTR gigs where you are making a living wont give you enough choice to really exploit this properly.
A bit of sightseeing on the move with the odd quick stop is more realistic.

No, I drive at night, it's dark.
No, the truck stop I fuel at is in a town, and has a cool freezer section
No, I am home daily and on weekends and holidays

I live on the west side of my city (really do) and I' working on spreading my PBJ all over some wheat bread.

I don't get paid to fuel or pre trip the truck much less visit a museum or poi.

I'll change my answer when families start making plans to sit at grocery warehouses for hours on their summer vacation.

Don't confuse paid tourist with having a job that may at times present an opportunity to visit some place you'd otherwise have to come out of pocket to travel to.

We don't get to do "touristy things", but we will see much more beautiful scenery then most. We see the "fly-over country" and interact with real people who live in the heartland and work hard and just want to live life on their terms ... the people that much of the media and entertainment industry has zero respect for but in reality these are the best people and make the nation work and a great place to live.

Pretty sunsets and sunrises, beautiful fall colors across the regions, and first snows, ice storms, mountain passes and canyons, and lots of interesting cultures, and and a whole lot of BS in between.

People often ask me if I get to see a lot of cool stuff out on the road.

I tell them I get to drive past a lot of stuff that would be cool to stop and see.

I could pass by practically anyplace in America and only recognize that I'd been there before when I saw a familiar truck stop or rest area. For example: if you were to mention Kenly, NC then I might be at a loss; but, if you mention the Flying J or the (former) Petro up there then I'd know EXACTLY where to find that place on the map. So much for being a paid tourist, LOL!
