From Los Angeles, take 5 to 14 and 14 runs into 395, all the way to Reno.

99 to 80 is a lot further and longer. Been there done that.

Yeah is donned on me to search and I found I thread. Just wish it were daytime. Thx

Terrible advice Dave. I don't what's change but I was steaming by the time I got to Reno and but it was an experience.

What was the issue ? That's the route I use to run years back. And if it was snowing, I would take the 6 out of Bishop and thru Tonapah and end up coming thru the east side of Reno. I know 395 is mostly two lane highway and has a few passes to climb, but that's trucking.

I didn't like that route the first time I went that way. Trust me......I got use to it quickly. It's what you call and "adjustment". I ran up 5 then thru 80 over Donner pass, it took forever and only cause I wanted to uses the interstate. But I realized afters it was better going the route I mentioned in the beginning. Shorter, quicker and No SCALES.
P.S. This was back in the very early 80'sLast edited: Feb 8, 2016
NavigatorWife and ErikN Thank this. -
Well sir I'm not interested in scale dodging. One donner vs. city zones, several grades, several hills. Etc. sir! All is well though. At the end of the day I made the choice.
