I have a key start and I want to put a hidden the button under dash to push start just as an extra theft measure. Anyone know what wires I am looking for on the key start to run to the push start button I have a 96kw...

    Thanks

I would assume you hack into the wires before the ignition and put the switch between there where you could flip it on before you turn the key.

I'm having a hard time explaining it but, I have the image in my head lol.

I think with that setup, only drivers pre 1999? Will know how to use a button with the key. Ha.

If no one else answers. Contact a dealer of Kw's and get the correct info. I don't know if your truck has it or if it was made back then, but if you start messing with ignition wires you may lock it out. The truck might think it's being stolen.

It's possible. You just need to locate the wire from the key switch that energizes the starter relays and wire your secret switch in series with them. That should work just fine.

I don't think it will lock me out just like the older truck you turn the key to give truck power then then you push the button to start the truck . Going to have the push nipple under the dash in my head it will work beautiful :)

Just leave the ign switch wired just like it is.
The only wire you need off it is the wire on the center pole of switch.
    That wire energizes your starter.

Run that wire to your push button switch.your push button will have 2 poles, wire the other pole with key on power. Done!

You can get the key on power from one of the poles on back of ign switch.
Just run a jumper wire from that to your push button switch.
Everything will work just like normal other then you will have to push the button to start truck .

My 2000 k100e was ordered this way from factory. Push button start .

My bad. I thought the OP wanted a 2nd button to push while turning the key to the start position. I didn't realize he just wanted a push button. Go with Swaan's advice.
