I'm still in training to obtain my CDL A, but my long term plan (3 to 5 years) is to become an O/O leased on to Landstar is their system (dispatch, agents, ect) more complex than other companies?

There is no dispatch.
BTW if your 3-5 year plan is going to be spent as seat meat for the megas you will have zero business experience at the end of it.
If I was young in this time I would get a job in the energy field. Start as labor and move up. Better pay for the time you give than trucking. -
I don't plan to start as a O/O with Landstar, I plan to lease on to them after becoming an O/O with a smaller carrier (not a mega carrier) I have a opportunity to learn from folks willing to give advice before hand, so I'm gonna use the opportunity. I don't have any interest in energy work, I can make my own career choices.

It's complex if you don't know nothing about Freight Lanes & Hot Spots... more than likely you'll be a CPM driver for a while so you won't have a clue what pays what. My advice, as soon as you can go to company where you get paid on Percentage, even after trucking school, go for it. It gives an idea of rates and so on....
And the system ain't complex, just gotta know what your doing and it usually takes 6 months to a year... -
I was leased on after my first year solo. No need to wait three to five years.

I hope to lease on with Load One before hand as an O/O after a few years of being"seat meat"
