Plan ahead. Make sure you have 3 months living expenses.
That how long it might take for you get a linehaul job
    In Vegas.
More drivers living in Vegas looking for the samething that you are then there are jobs available.

Let me give you a clue of what your up against.
The company I work for actually has a manufacturing
Plant and our own private fleet of trucks.
We have about 25 otr drivers that live in Vegas.

Most of them want a local job too.
But the pay is so low for local truck drivers out there
That they can't afford to do it.
There's guys driving 18 wheelers and unloading
Trucks for 14 bucks an hour out there.

You can scratch off half that list as some of the worst
Companies you'll ever deal with. I've been thru thier
Doors and talked to there drivers when I lived out there.

No,Las Vegas is not any other city..
By the time he's done poking around looking for
    That gig he's broke.
Las Vegas makes nothing to be shipped out,
    It's a consumer city.

Old dominion is one of the better companies there and linehaul wouldnt pay by the hour, maybe other companies i agree like tru line they do pay 14/hr.

I agree with you 100 percent. But old dominion
In Vegas is not hiring drivers every week. You have to know
Somebody who will tell you when there hiring and you
Have to be there at that exact time.
I have friends in Vegas who are on waiting list
For these linehaul jobs. They ain't just giving these
    Away.

Totally agree with you that they're not always hiring.

If I was to haul gasoline in Vegas again I think I would go with the UTAH boys. They do their turnarounds early in the morning and most times you won't see them until the next day. The pay is better than anyone else and the trucks are really kept up. But just like anyone else it's very hard to get hired on and the owners must hear about you from their own drivers. Rebel is a tight company where you just about have to be family. They have their own loading area (they did a few years back but I'm sure they still do) and they stay to their own. Tobby ran the company there for years but I would think he's retired by now. You can try but you have much better luck with Williams. They got the ARCO contract when ARCO pulled their trucks and they offered the ARCO drivers a job that pays different than the other drivers. But I know there weren't all that many ARCO drivers that went over. It's also hard to get to that account.
