I agree that you should not talk skip on 19 out of respect for the drivers who might need the channel for a myriad of reasons. Although, so few drivers are on there anymore it isn't as big of deal as it used to be, except for the few of us who still monitor 19 when we drive.
Legal?

Around Dallas, if it wasn't for the occasional skip coming in, and the guy's who just want a "Radio Check", channel 19 would be quite as a mouse...

Guys are using VHF more up here all the time, got 14 trucker channels going on mine. Clearer sound, much longer range pushing 50 watts legally. Carry my cb & vhf all the time, many nights don't hear a sound on either.

Huh. Interesting!
looks like maybe some of those you're supposed to have a commercial radio license of some sort to use...? Although it's not like licensing stops many truck drivers. Time to do some research and break out the scanner! -
Got the list from a long haul friend. Ladd are popular in MB and SK, AB are Alberta and ONLOG were meant for Ontario Loggers. Be nice if our Glorious Leaders would designate 100 channels for a VHF version of the CB nationwide. Being able to talk when you're 30 km apart is nice! Some of these channels are registered for local businesses, one is a taxi company, so you need to watch you don't step on them.
