I just read that Swift will be limiting us to 5 gallons of DEF at truck stops - to encourage our getting DEF at terminals.

Well think of the # of trucks they have and def costs more at truck stops than they can buy it in bulk at the terminals.
I know it costs me 1.08 a gallon if I buy it in bulk and have it at the house. I buy very little def on the road. I mean hell that is almost 1.80 or so less a gallon than a truck stop.

I know. But just the action says a lot about how Swift considers our time as totally invaluable.

Are they willing to pay me an hourly wage for the time I have to spend diverting to a terminal to get DEF, or the extra time it takes when many trucks might now be lined up for it because of their new 'rule'?
Add to that the extra time at some terminals for the inspection process to just get in.

I can understand Swift wanting to save some money.
But they take my time (and thus money) in the process.

Well if they would save so much money by making us get DEF at a terminal, perhaps they should send some of it our way for the trouble?

Yeah keep dreaming, nothing personal here but can you even imagine what they pay in accident claims?. They are self insured. They have even said accidents are hurting them bad financially. Yeah good luck getting a raise from them.

The two have nothing to do with each other, and I see no reason to take your comments personally.

The thing is, Swift could save money and get me to WANT to fill my DEF tank at a terminal.

Instead of just announcing that we can no longer get more than 5 gallons of DEF at a truck stop because they want us to do it at a terminal, they could do this...

Swift can save a lot of money if our drivers would fill their DEF tanks at our terminals.
To that end, because we know it will take time from you, we will pay you $10 whenever you fill your DEF tank with 15 or more gallons at a Swift terminal.

    Simple.
Swift would still save a lot of money, and it would not be such a hassle for the drivers.

So the bonus should be more then the savings ? If you are unhappy , find a new company. That said the biggest thing to help with emission issues is to keep the DEF tank full or near full.
