Why would you want to do that ? It would delay the 168 hours before you can start your next restart .

Start 1st reset 1:00 AM Sunday. This would mean that you start driving after 11:00 AM Monday morning with a fresh 70. You cannot start another restart before 1 AM the next Sunday which would allow you to start driving again at 11:00 AM Monday with a fresh 70. Any time off before 1 AM the second Sunday does not count towards the reset.

You may still be able to run on recap. Say you worked 12 hours each day. 5 days (M-F) x 12 hours = 60 hours. If you are off Sat you still have 10 hours to run before picking up recap hours at midnight Monday. You could leave anytime you want to Monday morning, run 10 and then pick up what you ran the week before (12 each day) at midnight.

Thank you for the clarification. With all these changes come a lot of questions that the rule alone does not answer.

What happens to drivers who run exclusively at night?

This 30min thing will be another thorn for us OTR guys!

At first I thought oh how nice 30min; I take that anyways ...but as I have been working scenarios in my head and observing the irregu larities of my days OTR; I say this will be a rule that will get many drivers ...

For instance, many on here say its 8 hrs driving then take a break. No! It's 8 hrs from the last period of at least 30 min off duty ...

This rule officialy blows UP in ure face and takes u by surprise ...

See just yesterday I arrived to get unloaded around my 2nd hr after coming on duty. Was completely unloaded and leaving with my new dispatch at my 5th hr... With the new rule I would have till my 13hr to drive and then have to take another 30 min ... So by then I had driven 9hrs ........................ :/

The real intent of the regulation is to have carriers reduce hours so a driver doesn't need a restart . When attempts to eliminate the restart failed in court this was the well funded alternative .

Well, for whatever it's worth, they have cut us back from being able to running 82 hrs in 8 days under the old provision, to 70 hrs in 8 days now.

Wow really? 82 hours? That would've been sweet ... When they get rid of that?
