I need help from experience O?Os. My broker is giving me $750 from Longview WA to Fremont CA. That is about $1.00 CPM. It is for dry van, and the weight is 45,500 lbs. What should I do or ask the broker? I think the rate is really low.

Why are you even asking us this question that's just dirt cheap freight. You need to know what you're operating costs are.

I'm not even owner op status yet and I know that's cheap! Sounds like you may need to look elsewhere bro!

Screw the brokers , I won't give them the satisfaction of doing charity trucking for them ...if the truck can't turn a reasonable profit then it doesent move .
I'm currently camped near Laredo and people are taking flatbed loads out of here for a 1.30 a mile .
    Not me !

Wow you can make more as a lease on driver and have no upfront costs. What i did is make an excel spreadsheet with all your operating expenses (i.e. insurance, truck payment, fuel, escrow, maintenance, etc). Then you will see how much your average COST is to run the truck with absolutely NO profit. I then added personal bills to the mix to see what my "break even" rate is. AKA the rate that helps me pay for my operating expenses as well as keeping my family alive. For everyone obviously it differs, however this can help you decide what you want. If enough people would like to try the spreadsheet out I will work on one and you can message me for the file and punch in your own info. Now this also includes taxes (Social security, state tax, AGI tax, etc). My dad and I have gone over this sheet at least a million times and spent a month on it. This will be a helpful factor in choosing what rates to accept. Thanks guys!
