Welcome to the forum. Not sure who's hiring in that area, I'm further north now. Sounds like you would be able to cut your teeth with a broker doing coast to coast. Good training and good miles. Who knows. ' Luck

Would one would be the best. I would like to apply at Cassens, due to pay and family insurance. I wonder if they would lay me off. I heard other car haulers say ,no truck to drive, there fore sitting at home. There are 4 major companies here Jack Cooper, Cassens, Hansens and Adkins, Auto Strap..I am looking for security and family insurance.

I also heard at Cassens are usually one day trips or 2 day..Would kind of income will you make on bottom of the board...Some of the big boards, anyone on the bottom of the board. I have worked at big LTL companies with rotating board...Cassen has the worst equipment... but I hear they pay well... Any info on these companies would be appreciated. Looking for steady work and good pay...also need family insurance...

That I can't say for sure I am an owner op and have never worked for someone else. What I can tell you is that the few guys I have spoken to at each company were all happy with their employer.
Maybe try and catch one of these guys at the TA Laverne or ( I think there might be a pilot south of Smyrna) and talk to them yourself see what answers they have for your questions -
I am NOT starting a union vs non union comment. That is NOT what this is.
But the biggest negative for me with either Cooper or Cassen is after training you have to run slip seat. Which from what I was told was a local truck that runs roughly 2-12 hour or less shifts. You have to live close to the yard or you get to hang in a hotel if (like me) you live far enough away from the assigned rail yard. I am 180 miles south of Chicago & 100 north of St. Louis.
That slip seat gig, at least for a friend in MI when he worked for Cooper constantly changed from running nights & switched to days, back/forth etc.
Had a driver from Cassens ask if I wanted to apply with them last year when we were unloading at the same dealership. He confirmed they do it as well. Have no idea if that lasts for a few months or few years. Have been told both.
This all may work for you personally. But wanted to throw it out there & maybe others who have worked for a union co. can give more detail for the TN area. -
OK..That why I started this post...It will be about a 45 minute drive to the yard for me. I am not opposed to working for any of these companies. A 2 day trip and come back is good. My goal was to find a company that pays well with good benefits. I have run a slip seat operation before and it is much better if you have a assigned truck .I am a non-smoker and do like a clean truck. No one has comments about the pay ,benefits and yearly wage Hansens and ADkins and how long they stay out. I also wonder which companies have the most layoffs.....I would like to work another 10years for a good company. Cassens ...how fast will there trucks go...Thanks guys... I am trying to made good decision on which company to apply with. Jack cooper bottom of board yearly wage. I would hate to starting working for one of these companies and make about half of what I thought the yearly salary would be.

Hi guys, I don't mean to change the subject but can anybody help find out what my small car trailer is worth. I'm not in the business and just purchased a tractor that the trailer had to go with. Any help would be appreciated.
