Ive pulled twin 38s in south dakota and we could legally do 154k although 170k wasnt unheard of when doing pile work.
I made it work with a 13 speed and 12.7 detroit on the flats, but on the hills if you missed a gear you were ####ed without an 18. Cant back up A trains and cant start on a 6% grade without an 18 speed.Ruthless Thanks this. -
MI special is typically double frame and heavy steer with wide tires, gearing, horsepower, and rear ends set up for pulling 164 gross, as we can haul that on an 11 axle here. Wide tires are necessary here because steer axle weights are calculated on tire width along with axle rating.
However, if you're pulling out elsewhere, hills may require a little thought about gearing as we are flatlanders. -
You will want to look into the capacity of your tires.
I agree with the others, big Trains with Big weights need nothing less than very high ratios in the axles and 18 speeds. It's a yuge amount of weight and a righteous load. You cannot get much heavier than that on a B train.
55K Eh... I guess so, but you want to uprate that engine and try to beef up everything you can get onto that thing.
I myself have a little experience with heavy weights on trucks not made to take them. -
Flat lander here I should have said.
Currently getting by grossing 85k legal (scales over 90 here and there) with an M11 at 330hp and 3.9 rears with a 10 speed.
It's not setting any speed records but it gets it done.
Truck in question would be getting a set of 385s on the steer if I buy it. -
Also how bad are emissions on a 2011 isx? I don't want to be pouring money into it all the time.
-
I wouldn't buy any emission truck for a few more years, but that's me. I can say for sure you want to avoid 08-10 pretty much across all brands.
-
Man, i thought i was pulling heavy loads, but 170k???? I dont know jack!
-
Not much to it other than the typical A train double ####. Cant back up and cant turn too tight or trailers will rub. -
