Sad to say that the trucking lobby has exempted the transportation industry, at least our part of it, from the overtime laws. So you're overtime will depend in part on a couple of things. First off, union or non union. Union will usually, if not always, pay overtime. When that starts may depend on contract signed, check with employer.
Second, location. If you are in a state that has adopted the federal laws as far as employment is concerned, you may not get overtime at all. (Ain't THAT wonderful...)
If however, your state has it's own labor laws that are more stringent, then you may get overtime.
Confused now? I sure am.
The upshot is, check with the employer first. I mean FIRST before deciding to go to work there. It is a very relevant question to ask in a job interview.Bob Dobalina and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -

It's a matter of actually getting that overtime too. If joes freight pays ot after say, 45 hrs and ol' Joe cuts you loose at 44 hrs, dirty pool for sure but that's how places will play.
