A strange story. A man liked to sleep under semis winds up run over. I'm curious as to why he was allowed to keep putting himself in harm's way.

Strange indeed. One truck. Ok, I can get that. But two? I guess one pulled out, in the dark and killed him, then another backed into the same hole (in the dark) and smashed him again? But then this begs the question, how does on truck know he was the -2nd truck- to smash him, and not the 1st? Looks like one would feel a certain resistance to the normal roll and wonder "WTF is that?"

Same thing almost happened to me up in Oregon about 2 years ago. Was getting ready to leave the Pilot in Medford, got out to do pre trip and saw a pair of boots sticking out from under my trailer. I kicked the bottom of his boots and told him he was going to have to move. He grumbled and cussed then staggered off into the bushes. He was behind my tandems, but I was backed up against a tall curb and the ICC bumper would have turned him into hamburger if I would have taken off.
I guess he thought that was a good place to sleep to get out of the rain. -
I'd rather get some zzzzs inside the trailer.

A very long time ago i took a break at a small restarea without any cr's.
A young girl (10 op 11) apperently had to pee very urgently.
No bushes around.
Her mother makes a sign for her to go.................under my trailer.
She was Lucky i saw this unfold in my mirrors.
I waited a few extra minutes before i left. OLast edited: Jul 20, 2015

Two things immediately come to my mind:
1) How could anybody, even if stone cold drunk, voluntarily lay down on any truck stop parking lot. I mean he had to be mobile enough to GET there in the first place, it can't be that he passed out and fell there.
2) Another good reason to do a decent pretrip. And if you are just coming back from a 30 break, at least LOOK at your truck and trailer.Criminey Jade Thanks this. -

A simple pre trip or walk around could have prevented this.
A_C_Cooper and icsheeple Thank this. -
Goes to show that many drivers don't even bother to get out and check tires, lights and air leaks before they put it in gear and gas on it.
runningman0661 and icsheeple Thank this. -
The article just goes to show one more driver not performing a pre trip.
