Subscribed... I am looking into this program as well. I don't get out of the service until July, then I will be attending school to get my CDL. Does anybody if you can receive the GI Bill while in school and get the Apprenticeship Program? Just wondering. Hope to join the ranks of Schneider this fall..

AF Reg, Yes you can use your GI Bill to pay for school, if you go to the VA website you can see what schools the VA approves and you can also check what companies qualify for the apprenticeship program I know, Schneider, Werner, Con Way, TMC, Old Dominion and UPS are part of the program, not sure of any more.

just to update you, last week my paperwork finally went through. It was processed on Friday the 13, so in total, the first round took a little under 10 days. I should have my first payment on Thursday, according the the chart on Wave, and its for 3 months, September, October, and November. From this point, I should get one payment a month.

    scoutsoutwalt Thanks this.

I meant weeks, not days. I wish it would have taken days! And yep, its nothing but "hurry up and wait" even after becoming a civilian.

AF Reg, look under non college degree as diesel driving academy is listed there. VA will pay for the school and you will get the E-5 BAH rate while going to school.

    AF Reg Thanks this.

How long did it take to get your check from the VA for while you were in school?

I know this thread is old and I hate bring threads back from the dead but you may have info i may need. I was forced retired out of the army in dec 2012. I paid my 100 a month for 12 months for the GI bill while I was in as well. I really want to know more about the apprenticeship program with Schneider. My question is, Schneider states on their website that you get paid by the VA as well as by the company. How does that work out? I would also like to know as much as possible about this program. Does Schneider send me to a certain school in my area? Thanks for any info you can give me in advance.
