Yesterday was another day in the classroom. Was tired last night and completely forgot to update. Things are still going good. Today we are learning pretrip, sliding tandems, and straight line backing.
SHOJim and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this. -
Week 1 is complete. Yesterday we went over pretrip, practiced coupling/uncoupling, straight line backing, and driving around the yard with a trailer. The backing was not bad at all. It just takes small corrections and a lot of practice.
I am still having a great time. Since there are only 4 of us, we are getting a ton of practice on everything. Came home for the weekend. Will be heading back tomorrow afternoon.
More to come next week...JOHNQPUBLIC and SHOJim Thank this. -

Day 6 is done. Today I was chosen to demonstrate the pretrip inspection. It went pretty well. I forgot a few things, but over all I did good for my first time. The rest of the day was spent on the range doing driver's side parallel parking and alley docking. Our instructor, Bill, did demonstrations and made it look easy. He gave us tips and pointers on what to look for during the maneuvers. We were a bit all over the place at first, but after 8 more hours of practice, we were getting the hang of it. Tomorrow is blind side parallel and offset backing. Tomorrow is also chicken day

Day 7 of training is in the books. Today was spent on the range doing offset backing and blind side parallel parking. It was freaking hot today. The air works in both of the trucks we are using, so that's where we spent most of our time even if we weren't driving. Things continue to go well, and I think we are all progressing nicely. One more day on the range tomorrow and then we will be out on the road starting Thursday. Should be fun.
JOHNQPUBLIC and SHOJim Thank this. -
Wednesday was day 8. Our last full day on the range doing backing maneuvers. Spent the entire day rotating between all of the maneuvers. We all seem to be getting better with each day of practice.
Today we are out on the road for the first time. This is what we have all been waiting for.
More to come...SHOJim Thanks this. -
Is Greg still teaching there?
-
No, Bill is the instructor in Trenton. I think Greg is in Cartersville.
