This is a great resource for people considering a career change. I am scheduled to start Millis school in Eden, NC in January, but have a few questions that I am confident the pros here can answer:
    1. Where do drivers fill-up their trucks?
    2. Do drivers have a set route that they are required to follow?
    3. Are drivers generally on the road during holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc...)
    4. Are drivers paid miles driven loaded and unloaded (deadhead)?
    5. Any hometime while with trainer?
    6. Approximate days with trainer?
    7. Eden Brewery closing down. Is this going to drastically effect Eden terminal?
    8. CPM rate I am hearing differing info.

    Thanks!

the CPM rate differs depending on if you go per diem and non per diem. there has been GREAT debates about that in the past. All I can say is I made a lot more money driving non per diem with them then per diem, and that's a fact.

Oops meant to put that in there but forgot. Per-diem is great for people with child support I've been told

For any new students or new hires I recommend going on per diem for at least the first year with exception being if you need to show higher taxable income for some reason (i.e. trying to get approved for a home loan, etc.) My reason for this is, higher bonuses and you will get your first vacation after the six months and another after one year vs. just one week after the first year on straight pay.

Take home pay comes out about the same either way, one just shows less taxable income. I was on straight pay before and I am on per diem now.

Since per diem shows lower taxable income it can lower your child support depending on how it is computed in your state.

The general thought is that another beer company will buy the brewery. They may be shutdown for a while and may not have as much moving as with miller but everyone expects freight to keep moving.
