Mount for Wilson 5000 trucker

    Was the mount the only thing changed to bring the swr down? What was the difference between the 2 mounts?

    I got a whole different antenna, I did not have the proper roof mount and I'm sure that was effecting it. But the brand new Wilson 5000 trucker that I bought had an internal short and that's why it was pegging my swr meter.

    But the whole reason that I switched to the Wilson 5000 trucker was because my Wilson 5000 magnet mount had broken and falling apart so I went and bought a brand-new Wilson 5000 magnet mount and just put my old coil and whip onto the new base because it was the American Wilson and it was still good but the magnet base was destroyed.

    So now I have a new Chinese coil and whip as a spare. I could have just bought a replacement base but I just bought everything new just I case.

    The 5000 trucker is ment to be roof mounted anyway.

    I run a 1000 roof mount on my GMC Sonoma. I had a 5000 mag mount, but changed to the 1000 roof mount when I installed the Rm Italy KL 300......

    Why would you go to a smaller antenna?

    The bigger coil makes up for antenna length? The 5000 is the closet thing to a 102" whip that I am aware of?

    The bigger coil is for power handeling. The 1000 and 5000 are the same length electrically, and physically around 5ft. My sirio would be the same electrically, but physically its 7ft.

    There is no difference in performance between the 1000 and 5000. The 5000 will handle more power. The Sirio will out perform them both......longer is better!
