I am getting ready to move from a 96 Kenworth to a 2010 peterbilt 386 with DPF filter and such so I can move back to Cali is there anything that I really need to worry about on this truck I know a lot about the problems they have but anyone had good luck with these emissions trucks.
Thanks

Coyote302 Thanks this.

Yea DEF helps things out a bit by requiring less EGR and the DPF doesn't need to work as hard either. I would look for a 2011+ with DEF.

If the motor is governed at 65 mph or lower, you're in for possible problems. At my previous job I ran an '08 Pete 388 with a c-15 Cat. I didn't have too many issues, unless pulling heavy and/or excessive city driving. Local CAT dealer told me they had most problems with trucks that were governed needing to repeatedly do parked regens. Apparently, especially with the governed trucks, the motors weren't able to get the RPMs up high enough for long enough periods of time to allow the motor to get hot enough to regen while running.
Not sure how/if it differs with the Cummins motors though.
