Anyone ever gotten an MVR sealment or expungement?
What's the difference?
I've heard a sealment still shows entries on the MVR, just no details vs expungement clears all.
Sealment is cheaper and can only be opened by court order, but seems a bit risky if entries are still showing.
MVR "sealment" or "expungement"??
Kind of defeats the entire purpose of having an MVR record if it can be sealed and have parts of it expunged. If you have things on the record that are not able to stand the light of day, then maybe a job dependent on having a clean MVR is not the best choice for you.
An employer has a right to know as much as possible about your driving record and history, since that is the function for which they are hiring you. If you work on an assemvbly line, then that is really no business of your employer. But if you are hired for the specific task of driving, then it is rightfull a concern for the employer, as well as the general motoring public.
An employer might be inclined to overlook youthful indiscretions of the past, but the current state of the record is of prime importance to them, as it should be.
personally i think having some things expundunged is needed. for example i was falsely charged in an accident (didnt even hear about it until i got a dmv letter) It took me 4 months but i got ahold of the police report and had it removed(expundunged) from my record. Although the MVR still shows a violation on that date. just no explaination.
The only reason I am considering an MVR sealment or expungement is I have 2 speeds at 18MPH over in the last year which was not smart I admit.
I have learned from this for sure and consider myself a safe driver.
Some carriers consider 2 18MPH overs in a year bad news and others don't.
I meet most carriers minimun MVR requirements until they look at the 18MPH overs. Some exclude me from their in house training program and require me to train on my own and say if nothing else changes on my MVR-call us after you get your CDL and "we should have no reason not to hire you then"
I do not want to do more harm than good by sealing or expunging my MVR only to raise more questions by a prospective employer.
If expunging or sealing is a legal avenue to help me start a driving career with a good company, then I'm all for it. Otherwise I will wait till the speeds drop off or go with a carrier that will accept my MVR as is.
Anyone know exactly what appears on an MVR after an expungement or sealment?
Is the violation(s) still listed? Does the words "expunged" or "sealed" appear or is it truly omitted all together?
I just want to make the smartest decision for the long run and not just short term.
How did you get it off? My husband was charged with 67 in a 45 and was not going 67,he went to court and the judge would not even consider lowering it.He paid the fine but now we can't get it lowered on his mvr.We have had a lawyer try and get the judge to talk to him but she won't even return his phone calls.Other places want lots of money just t o try.my husband had a clean record, never had a ticket and has only been driving for about 18 months and this is running us.He can't get a job and we don't know what to do.Any suggestions?
