Ok so i picked up a 2 stop plate load of steel plate out of 2 of the arcelor mittal plants in eastern pa today. Load was billed at 50,000lbs. Once I'm loaded the weights are just shy of 51,000 lbs. My with truck and trailer i can scale 49,000 with full fuel. I'm currently at 81,000lbs. We knew this was a possibility that I'd need permits. So i scaled at a cat scale and sent the boss my axle weights.
I'm told by a friend of mine who does specialized with pgt that he probably won't get an over weight permit because he doesn't think they will issue one on a load that can be divided up and sent on seperate trucks. Its 2 stacks of 7 plates each. So is this true? Can he not get an over weight permit for this plate load?
My first permitted load

Go back to the shipper and tell them that they have to remove a sheet. Either they pull one off or all of them. If your dispatcher starts asking stupid questions, tell him that you are not having that "how much fuel do you have on" conversation. If they try to call you, don't answer the phone.Highway Sailor, snowman_w900, MJ1657 and 4 others Thank this. -

If the company tells you to run it and they will pay the fine ask them to put it in writing and fax it to you. They will have a change of heart.
RedRover Thanks this.
