Yea paying you more. How dare those dirty crooks do that. Always get a chuckle out of people who think they are getting ripped off when the company wants to pay them more. Here is a visual aid for those who can not grasp the concept or do simple math.

Co A pays you .38 per mile for all miles loaded and empty and you drive 2800 miles for the week. Gross pay $1064

Co B pays you . 38 for 500 miles and over .40 for 400 to 500 miles .42 for 300 to 400 .44 for 200 to 300 and .46 for anything under 200 miles. You run 2800 miles for the week 1 run 1000 miles 1 run 700 miles 1 run 400 miles and 2 runs at 250 miles and 1 run at 200. Gross pay $1118 a extra 54 bucks for the week.

Now if a company is paying you less mty then when you are loaded, then you are getting ripped off.

    mje Thanks this.

That would be nice but most sliding scales don't go up that high. Just do some research on the Knight, Marten, and the National Carriers sliding pay scale.

I'm sure he probably left out his experience probably included a few tickets or accidents in his short time of being a professional driver.

Tyson is a pretty decent outfit. They want you to park the truck at a yard, and have crazy hiring area's even when you see their trucks their all the time. Working for a private carrier has it benefits. So still not to bad a deal. IN all that most companies who have sliding pay scales do short haul, and doing short haul reefer a 250 mile load with 3 or 4 drops can take all day so yippie you .47 for 250miles. I know tankers do that sliding or loading thing as well. I guess I should of referenced. Professional drivers don't work for bottom feeders who use sliding pay scales is that better.

Sounds like a sweet deal mje.It seems the more expensive the freight the better the pay and benefits are.You haul everyday general freight, customers won't pay much which means you don't get paid much.

    mje Thanks this.

If I remember correctly..about 10 years ago or so....there was a documentary on tv about truckers breaking the rules,,a reporter rode with an ELITE driver from coast to coast and the reporter was shown he the trucker avoided scales, falsifying logs, driving with naps and of course speeding,,,,ELITE,,,did not appreciate it at all and gave the driver 30 days suspension and said never do that again,,,I may be wrong and if I am I apologize to ELITE but I think it was them,,,,,
