for $0 i would check the pitman arm---over 20 years working on trucks and i think i could count on one hand how many boxes i have ever replaced--and most of these trucks were million milers--but you are right--they do go at times--and there is nothing worse than sloppy steering--gets the elbows sore after a few hours when you have to chase the wheel

I have 2007 Volvo 780 and I went to truck stop to do alignment on 3 axles. They told me I had little play in my right side steering and they can't do alignment. I have to fix whatever is the problem. Any ideas and help please. What is the problem with my steering axle. He said wheel is moving about 2 inch or something

Really hard to tell with out actually looking at it.
There the alignment shop and they couldnt tell you what exactly was wrong with it.??
Take it to a professional shop next time.
You get what you pay for in life. These guys sound like a bunch hacks. -

Yes they did but here you are asking how to fix it.
Its hard to diagnose something like that over the Internet. Could be a number of things, the box itself or a drag link ect ect.....
Again they are the ones who should be able to tell you what exaclly it needs.
Take it to a good shop. Because "steering wheel movement " isnt enough to go by. -
Hope that s gonna help you
