Old Dominion hires new grads fresh out of school.
Need hazmat and doubles endorsements.
That's a company you'll want to stay with until you retire.

Central- 25/hr for local p&d in brooklyn so expect a similar rate in jersey
Numerous Container haulers (some pay hourly plus ot on w2)
Abeliene Motor express has a thread here and offers a ne regional where you'll run ny,nj,pa with decent hometime
Try some building supply companies (oeg building materials is one)

Once you get some experience shoot for gas hauling or ltl. Maybe even a rigging/oversize company
