More B.S. from the FMCSA. From Landline Mag:
"On April 23, FMCSA published a final rule that adopted new standards for issuing medical certificates and amended the reporting requirements of the results of DOT physicals.
In the final rule, the agency expanded the medical history criteria and incorporated those criteria into the regulations. A new medical form included in the final rule now has 32 health conditions listed under the medical history portion of the rule. Of those conditions, 13 are new to the form.
New conditions to the form include high cholesterol; chronic cough, shortness of breath or other breathing problems; unexplained weight loss; bone, muscle, joint or nerve problems; blood clots or bleeding problems; chronic infection or other chronic diseases; problems staying awake, loud snoring; sleep apnea; have you ever had a sleep test; have you ever spent a night in the hospital; have you ever been treated for a mental health problem; and have you ever had a broken bone."

never indicate anything more than you absolutely have too,,remember your private medical info needs to be secure and whom ever is giving the physicals most likely will not protect any info you give them. If you had high blood pressure , high blood sugar etc in the past or any condition that is not now present DON"T TELL THEM OR ANYONE.
Mikesee Thanks this. -
Does spending the night in the hospital when i was 7, getting my tonsills out, disqualify me from driving?. or just get me a 1 year card???
Hammer166 Thanks this. -
I spent the night in a hospital too. I was one day old at the time....
Regs are getting sillier and sillier.

There is a rule that I have lived by for almost 80 years, "YOU CAN BE TOO HONEST"

Good luck.rambler Thanks this. -
From what I have witnessed in the last 10 years or so,
those added questions are the least of your concerns............rambler Thanks this. -
Spot on. Thats why after 42 years the decision to retire was soooo easy for me. I continue to be amazed by federal officials who know nothing...but are letting themselves be herded along and told what to do by insurance companies and lobbyists for groups who hate trucks and drivers.

One has to use some of that gray matter between their ears. If it has no bearing on trucking, it gets no appreciable answer. Overnight in a hospital, NO. Even though I was medivac to the U.S. in the military and medically retired. No broken bones, no joint or muscle problems, nothing. I will just make those choices when I actually see any form at the next DOT physical update. I am not really concerned. Fortunately, I am not dealing with an enlarged paranoia gland.
