I spoke to a owner of a crane company today. He said there were some TN weight law changes coming next year but didn't go into detail because he couldn't remember all the details. I did a quick Google search and couldn't find anything. Does anybody know anything about this?
What I'd love to see is them recognizing trunnion axles (8 tires per axle line). I've already heard of them allowing this in special circumstances. Or go by tire rating to allow more weight per axle.

We call two short axles side by each "wheelers".
If TN starts allowing wheelers, they'd be landlocked wouldn't they? I don't believe any states east of the Mississippi allow them, or am I wrong? -
Although I've never hauled heavy in KY, if I read their regs right, they go by the weight rating of the rubber on the ground.
All of our supper heavy loads we do originate and end in TN so the land lock deal wouldn't affect me. What is a real problem for us is having a huge trailer to get enough axles on the ground and having trouble once you get to the jobsite. Most of these loads are 100 tons plus net.
If they ever allow the weight rating of the tire, I know where a older Talbert with jeep that is on 14.00-20 rubber that can be had for a song. It would work great for some of our shorter moves. -
passingthru69, MJ1657 and Heavy Hammer Thank this. -
Yes, will be great for the trunion guys, but like posted prior, you are kinda land locked. As the surrounding states to my understanding don't allow them.
Also Ia. changed their rules the other week as well.. -

Yea, just read that part. No part of the trl. or axle to exceed 10'
Now what about the dual lane trls. and 19axle setups.
There must be a clause somewhere that allows them -
You know I have no idea, I assumed 19 axles have always ran there. I've been down through there with my old west coast 9 a bunch of times but we just permitted it 13,000 on the steer and 20 on the rest of the axles.

Yea, 19's do run there and my buddy at Miller has done it. I know those axles are wider than 10.
But they may hold them on the 20k per axle like they have always donejohndeere4020 Thanks this. -
No cap on overall gross weight? Could be good for me in the future if I find that state....
