Can someone tell me the best rpm range for pulling with this engine. I pull heavy loads [90,000-100,000 kg range] Also need to know if I should be pulling down too 1150 rpm when i am loaded that heavy have a kw c500 with a 18 speed and a 4 speed aux tranny. Do you guys think that the tranny can handle that torque at the lower rpm range? Thanks for any input I can get.

putting the rpms down that low pulling a hill can wear out the tranmission faster then normal. your putting to much pressure on the bearings spinning that low trying to make that much weight move.

do you have planetary axles, whats the rear end ratio? Are you on pavement or off road? Wheel size?
90-100k kgs is like 198000-220000lbs. Whats the torque of that motor, 2050?1850?
The driveline is usually matched up to the engine and output. with an 18 sp tranny, and an aux box, you are probably spec'd right, because this isn't a normal interstate rig, it sounds like a specialized truck built for a specialized job. so if it will pull and not die at 1150 rpms, there probably isnt any harm.

It would be a shame that these engines hold so good at that low of a rpm and I could nottake advantage of that.

Am not sure on rear end size they are not planets though. At 1600 rpm I am traveling at 102 km per hour.it has 11r22.5 size tires. It is a oil feild truck for moving drilling rigs. We go both off road and on. I am chained up on two of the three drive axles 50% of the time have been pulling her down to 1150 rpm and up to 1700 rpm. Its a isx15 550/1850 tq. It also has a off road tune done to the engine from factory (I don't know what that does too it)

sounds like it is spec'd for the job. Running it down to 1150 isn't going to hurt anthing. that truck sounds like a monster.
Under 900rpm I'd stay out of. If you have the tri-axles locked up, and the cross locks on, chained up, and knee deep in muck, pour the coal to her..... as long as she holds down low, its fine.
The weakest link in your driveline is going to be your axle ends, not the tranny.
