Also, everyone grinds gears, it happens. You will learn to be light on the gear shift and then it will "just click" into gear for you. Again, practice, practice, practice.FullMetalJacket and darthanubis Thank this. -
Was taking a shower in Springfield last night and was thinking to myself, "hey Bobby L, think you could spring for some washcloths for us?"
So I go to take another shower this morning and you'll never guess what was in my shower and all of the rest... a washcloth!
I take full credit, I telepathically got us washcloths, you're all welcome!FullMetalJacket, unholy7, Chucktshoes and 1 other person Thank this. -
I put the tractor trailer on 44 today. That was as exciting as getting on the expressway with a motorcycle for the first time. We went to exit and I downshifted to fifth and he was impressed. He said I was a natural and none of his new guys was able to down shift so smooth. We got back around the corner from prime east and I let it shut off at the light. We laughed... too much praise.
I'm loving this!FullMetalJacket, Highway101 and Chucktshoes Thank this. -
Lol dude you are just like me during my 1st weeks on the road. To help with the grinding only grab the stick with your finger tips.
You don't need to force it. If you're forcing your RPMs are wrong. It will fall right into the gear.
Also when you get into a new truck while you're outside reach in and press the clutch. Right were you start to feel pressure is what I call the friction zone. That's really as far as you need to press the clutch in to change gears.
I'm glad we didn't let you give up. I can see the change in your attitude and motivation through the internet. Good job and keep that #### up but don't get ####y. ####y kills.FullMetalJacket, darthanubis and Chucktshoes Thank this. -

Everyone has their own way I guess. Your arm movement should be one smooth movement though. It will come in due time. After the break in driving that I had it took me 3 or so days to get back into the swing of things.
Just remember you're going to make mistakes. It's how you recover that makes a good driver.darthanubis Thanks this. -
We just picked up an empty in KC. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
I'm happy to be with Prime Inc specifically. It's starting to feel like home. I know things won't be a cake walk, but I like being challenged.
Now let's see if I can sleep in the top bunk of a sleeper.FullMetalJacket Thanks this. -
