Driving a 2014 Mack equipped with an antenna and the hookups for a cb. I just need to get one and plug it in. Not going for a whole lot of range. There is a guy I run with at night that has one and every once in a while I'll pass another company truck to chat for a moment. Not too worried about talking to a guy 20 miles away or anything. What's a good solid entry level cb? Cobra has some at pilot for around $100...

That Cobra Classic is a good entry level CB. I've had mine for years, and it's never given me any trouble. As long as I have had a good antenna, I've been able to talk to folks.

Love's has the bearcat 880 on sale for $80. It's even more idiot proof than the cobra and just as good.

Just bought the Uniden PC78 LTD Classic 50th anny radio for $69.99 on Amazon. Classic old school face plate with traditional user friendly knobs, but SMT board similar to the Bearcat 880 and 980. Should be at the house when I get there tomorrow and will try it out in my pickup truck.

Thanks everyone. I'll be getting a gear keeper for the mic too. The other driver told me the stock antenna is no good. Doesn't match up well and he put on his own. I need an antenna too. Suggestions?

Get the CB and a swr meter and first see how well the stock performs. If it's awful (which is likely), then consider replacing the antenna(s?). I know not much about Mack and how their antenna placement/wiring is done.
