The load I am currently under is going from Cheyenne to Tucson. Swift wants me to run thru the rockies on a bunch of little highways. I feel it would be safer, faster, and better on fuel mileage to run south on the I25 to Las Cruces and over on the I10. If I go my way I miss one of my fueling stops.
Do I have to follow there route, and if not how do I get another fueling location that is on my way.
Newbie fueling question.

Call your DM ... ask for a reroute and reop on fuel.

if Fleet manager gave you the load assignments and fuel stops go that way. If it's a dispatcher then I would send them a message you know a quicker route and if you can take it. If this is your very first load then I would say either way go the route suggested or be the red headed step child. Wait until you get some time under your belt to go your way no matter how quicker.

Sorry can't resist it is SWIFT, with just 7 weeks take their route so you get the miles. They are likely basing it on zip code to zip code mileage.
Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
Screw that. Take your route. Call in and have them open your fuel card when you need it.
Rex012, HorseShoe and Moosetek13 Thank this. -
Sorry disagree I would not want him dinged for taking unauthorized route knowing how SWIFT would do. After time your DM will learn to trust you and then take your way. My Fleet Manager knows to trust my routes I have no issues but I have been under him for a pretty long while know. But he used to also dive a truck so he knows what all is involved.
