Gawd. I put in a application. Been through 2 interviews. It is down to me and 4 other guys. And I have not worn a suit since forever. I still got into it. Barely.
Home EVERY night. 3 DAYS off in a row! ( I do not care what days!) 10 hour days. WOO! Yes a pay loss. Benefits. 401. No logs. No cameras. No dot. No cops.
No throwing chains over the 70. No more Wyoming. No more shippers and receivers. No more ######## like frozen brakes at 3 in the morning or pre tripping during a blizzard and finding something wrong. No more #### stained toilets. No more other "cdl" holders trying to kill me. No more shower lines. No more fixing trailers that other "cdl" holders have left for me. No more crappy food. No more worrying about a parking spot. No more not being able to sleep because you know some one is going to try backing into the slot next to you because you got the second to the last one left! And it is tight because the one you backed into was tight. Because someone f"ed up earlier and screwed the whole row up! You get the idea...the list goes on.
Funny thing I am kind of waffling. I think they might have picked it up on the second interview. The first interview went great. But it was just with one person. The second was with four. I should know by Monday.
Over the road Trucking. It gets into you. Too bad they don"t pay us properly for what we do and are truly worth!
No bus drivin forum. So here goes.

Congratulations on your new job. You got live cargo. Be professional introduce yourself and make them feel welcome. Explain how they will be safe in the hands of a experianced trucker. Tell stories about how we're all still ripped bad ##### and not fat slobs, how they can safely maneuver around us and your many exploits. Pray you don't get any nickel rollers.

From a former driver-
No DOT- any company with a motor carrier registration is subject to DOT inspections just like trucks. And they set up in places where buses are, sporting events, amusement parks, casinos.
No logs- wrong
10 hour days-yeah driving, but you aren't under the 14 hour clock, so your day may start at 7 am, and end at midnight, legally.
Drunks- do you enjoy dealing with drunks while you're sober?
Parking lots- do you enjoy sitting in a parking lots for hours, trying to get rest in a bus seat, while you're waiting for the group to return at any moment?
No cops- wrong again ,break the law, you'll get a ticket just like anyone else. I have more speeding tickets in buses, than in trucks.
No fixing trailers- what do you think you're doing in your off time? You're at some bus garage getting something fixed so you can pick up your group in the morning.Florida Playboy, Starboyjim, Dark_Majesty_06 and 2 others Thank this. -
I respect that guys post. ABC. That is abbreviated! Still beats Trucking though. It is a local job. Darn. I feel bad going for it. But on the other hand. I like to Truk. Truck!
