The boom is absolutely over.
Just slow and steady work for some as the wells are producing oil and water.
Advertised in the Williston free paper are brand-new apartments with one bedroom starting at 800, and two bedrooms around $1000-$1200 a month.
Hotels can be had in the upper $50 rangerabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I've been driving for a construction company in the Bakken since June 2014. I took this past winter off and decided to come back because I like my boss, I like the hours (I don't like working graveyard shift) and the pay and benefits are pretty good overall. Housing costs have come down because the boom has ended and also because thousands of apartment units have been constructed in the last 2 years or so. Last I checked the unemployment rate in the Bakken is still under 3%. I came here with no experience and got a tanker job almost right away. I don't think I could do the same in the current environment.
