I have an opportunity to bid on a lane from Mississauga to Northern Ontario switches. Mostly to Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Sudbury. I will be providing Power and own authorities and Insurance. The runs go at night and roughly 2500 miles per week. They are full load switches around 30, 000 lbs. Daily home and the freight is dry van.
I am putting together my expenses to see what I should ask them.
Any Ideas on what to bid that is reasonable for both parties?
This will be the first time I will be doing this.
Thank you

Ask them what the full cost of a company driver would be. Wages, OT, WCB, CPP, H&W etc etc. and tell them to match it. Company drivers cost more than Owner Ops.

^ I was actually expecting you to give some rate per mile figure...Since you have the greatest experience within Canada.
-
how much you charging for waiting?
-
There should be no wait on a switch
-
It's a switch, no waiting
-
What do you think is fair? Is this a regular run? How many and how often?
-
Yes, it's a regular run. One truck does one run daily. They do a lot of these runs every night
-
Well, how much are you thinking you should charge?
-
I think something around $1.60 is fair
