I picked up an ltl paying $600,due to my own negligence and laziness i damaged the product,if i have to guess maybe $1500 worth of damage.my deductible is $1000.should i try to settle this with the customer without getting the insurance getting involved or let the insurance handle it.also can i still get paid for transportation.any advice is appreciated

If you brokered the load you will have to read the small print about claims, if you decide to pay the dam. on your own have it all in writing so they dont claim on the insur. after you pay them?

I would do everything I could to prevent a claim. Carrying cash can make some problems disappear...

Yes you can still get paid for the transportation. Maybe you can use the transport cost to negotiate along with the repairs.

they still have to pay for the transportation any claim for damage is a separate matter,,was the damage your fault? Was it because of an act of GOD,,Hail etc? was it because it was not packaged properly by the shipper,,make this a learning experience,,there are many types of freight that are either too fragile or too difficult to secure properly and you never want to haul it. make sure any kind of settlement is in writing for your records,,
