    A question for the old successful owner operators.

    How many of you buy new trucks and trade every 4-5 years.
    How many buy new and run it well over a million miles
    How many buy used and keep buying used every 4-5 years
    How many buy used, put money into it and run it over a million miles

    Myself, I bought new in 88 put well over a million on it
    Bought 2 used trucks since and put a lot of money in both ran the second about a million still running the3rd

    I've had 4 trucks, one used. That one cost me a lot of money. I recommend new if possible

    On my 3° truck.All bought new.Ran the first 2 till they were around 9y old and then traded them.My opinion is to buy new and run them as long as possible ,all the time checking if it makes sence financially to keep runing the old truck vs getting a new one.I run very low miles but they do a lot off hours.

    We've bought new (1995, 2001, 2005, 2008) and run them for 10 yrs but quit doing that after the last one.....'08 DPF truck. Problems right out of the gate.

    Always on the lookout now for used pre emmision o/o trucks that are "like new" and no I don't trade them because they take $10,000-$15,000 to get them perfect or of the gate and then they are trouble free generally.

    Yeah, I missed that part... I was so focused on the engine and drive line, that I kinda over looked all the little things that add up quickly!

    But with the new emission trucks I'm not sure that business model works anymore .......
