My trucks are traded in around 450K and they have 25-30% pad left. 600K isn't far off.

Had one truck that the caliper hung up and wore one pad down. An O/O here is buying the truck when it is traded so we put all new pads on it. This is at 368551 miles. IMG-20130525-00012.jpg

A DOT inspector told you there's nothing you can do as a driver to adjust disk brakes huh? Guess he forgot as a driver and not a certified brake mechanic were not allowed to adjust slacks on drums either. I'd like his name and badge number I'll run out to Cali with a brake that's just out of adjustment and ask him if I can just adjust it right there to avoid a ticket if not I'll quote this post.

    Numb Thanks this.

Forget that, my wrenching days are behind me.

Interesting about the Cali-nazi's saying "Disc? Eh we don't understand them either."
If they can let it slide,,, (well, all they care about is emissions anyway)

The only things they can inspect is rotor wear, pad thickness and brake can loose/leaking. There is only an intial air gap when the pads are first installed,no other adjustment untill replaced.

That article is older than the thread. Still I think so far they just accept that you can't measure disc brakes.

My wrenching days are done too. But I still wrench my brakes. Certified or not.
