Taking a 10 wide legal weight load 2 foot rear overhang, total length 74' to Bangor, ME. from Chicago, IL. I usually don't run tolls. Looks like not much choice in the North East. Either that or run in the mountains snake trail.
I have never been into Maine. I have been to Vermont with Oversize.
    Any advice on a route.
All advice is appreciated. Thanks Drivers.

Total length of the load is 74 but your rear overhang is only 2. That's one long trailer you got there. Driver.

    On a standard 48 trailer that's 26 overhang.

I have run that route a few times.

I hate tolls,.. so I can do this route in my head. How ever there will be a few tolls that are unavoidable but not overly expensive.

Starting from I80 Il to In,.. 65 south to 30. A few traffic lights and stops. Traffic can become an issue if you run the first 15 - 20 miles of i30 during rush hour.

Then to i69 to 469 back to 30 as you head into Oh. Continue on 30 into Oh,.. to I71 up to i76 to I80 through Hubbard and into PA.

i80 through Pa then depending on the time of day,.. rush hour or not. If early enough I'll run 81 up toward Scranton and around to i84. I hate 81 and the construction zones during heavy traffic. The other option is to run 380 up to i84. I84 across Ny and into Ct.

The one toll you wont be able to avoid is after the Newburgh Beacon bridge to get into Ct. Also,.. depending on how you do your permit,.. you may need an additional permit for the bridge. If I remember correctly,.. its just $12.50 or $13.50 for 5 axles on I84 into Ct. Not a deal breaker for me. Also,.. optional,.. but I usually take 691 to 91 to bypass some of the traffic and dog legs in Hartford,.. then back to i84.

Continue I84 up into Mass,.. it will turn into I90 toll road. Run it to I290 north. About $7 for 5 axles. Take 290 to 495,.. traffic can get ugly in this area, especially as you approach Westford and Lowell. Continue on 495 to 95 up into Me. Various tolls on 95 up through here. Really unavoidable for the most part as bypass routes make for slow going when heading up to Bangor.

Thats how I run. If anyone has a better way,.. I'm open to suggestions myself.

The only scale to worry about on this route is the one at mm56 in Pa. The scale on i84 in Ct is usually closed after 3pm. Actually.,.. in the last 4 yrs I've only seen it open twice.

Total permit length is 74'. Means he is 72' with truck and trailer.

I'm 76' with my Columbia and 53' step.

    That makes more sense.

Arizona measured my cascadia at 67 or 68. Don't remember which number. With only a 48.

    I'm shorter then a 53 van trailer.

My last cascadia was at 65. With a 48 trailer.

    Thanks guys..
Snowy as clarified by Hurst. 48 trailer with a rear overhang of 2 feet. Total length truck + trailer + load = 74.
I know some states restrict state highway and have a length issue and require escorts. I wasn't sure If I would run into an extra expense going into Maine.
This is only the 4 trip past PA or NY.
Thanks for the route. The one stated is the route I will request when ordering permits Monday.
    Thanks again.

6 - 8" snow and high winds expected for Bangor and New England area next day or so.

Be careful and be prepared to park if they shut the interstates down. I barely made it out of Buffalo last year and got stuck in Ct for a day before it was really safe to leave.

Funny thing is,.. I'm on a permit load now myself,.. delivering in Ct tomorrow. Parked in PA since last night, no permit travel in Ny or CT on Sunday. Rolling out first thing. Not expecting heavy snow where I will be,.. 2 - 3 inches. Just enough to make the roads and traffic dangerous if it sticks.

When I'm oversize, I prefer to run the NY Thruway to the Mass Pike and avoid CT. Those ######## put me right through Yale once because I was 8'10" wide. You can run 24/7 on the Thruway and nearly that in Mass. Time it right and you can hit NH right when they allow you to be on the road.

Thanks Forty. I was talking to another driver today and he mentioned that was the way he was running the same load.
I already have permits thru New York. and will leave at sunup. Should make it to Eastern PA. Somewhere close to Port Jarvis. Any suggestions for a place to park out there overnight or longer if needed.
I was watching weather and looks like the snow should be done tuesday

If you can get on into NY, you've got Maybrook TA( I weathered a hurricane there) or the Pilot just up from that. Stewart Diner across from that's food has been hit or miss the last couple times I've been there but you can usually make a spot in the back 40 if need be. If you can't make it that far exit 20 on 84 in PA is OK. The Italian place was good last time I ate there.
