I have 360K on mine running a dedicated run engine has been trouble free except in the beginning as any new trk has teething problems. I have a tri pac so i do not idle very much. have dpf filter cleaned every 200k and initial overhead done at 40k. Engine does not use any oil between services at 30k. recommended at 40k but i run at gross 99% of the time and i run the engine pretty hard. So i change a little more often. One recommendation is use the Paccar filters and not the fleetguard filters, especially fuel filter. Lifetime fuel mileage is 6.6 mpg. It is in a t660 with studio with a 18speed. Very happy with engine, not my beloved cat engine but does a fairly good job

Thanks for reply. i'm looking for any experience with 2013 and up MX500. Paccar said it's had some changes and now have some more power. I'm looking for power and MPG of course because drive parkinglot(80000 or close every time and zero aerodynamic), but have not much choises in Pete 389, cummins and paccar only. And dealer have truck with Paccar in stok,so maybe i can get next week. Just wanna know if i'll be sad after driving Cat C15( 600hp and 2050 HP in that) for few years

mine is a 2013 trk, and yes you'll be disapointed in any engine after driving the Cat's. so get use to it

    Hi, I have a 2014 pete 579 with a paccar 500 in it, a 13 converter and 3.23 sprocket.
My truck is really smooth, I'm avg 7.2 miles to the gallon pulling a skateboard and some full weight here and light there..
I've had 0 problems, 0 down time and 0 lack of power coming from that 15.2 ltr Cat @ 475.
I like the sound like detroit when you first step on the throttle, but then like a Cat once you're 70mph.
0 oil consumption, 0 coolant consumption either, I'd recommend this engine and a good warranty for the whole truck.

As long as you do maintenance in time. If you hear maintenance free, they want you come to shop daily.

What speeds are you running and what part of the country do you run?

Yes you'll be terribly disappointed unless you go with the cummins.

    AlexCarHauler Thanks this.
