ordered an ohio permit Tuesday at 10am finally received it at 355pm today. after reading it I finally understood why it took so long. have one bridge to cross 1/8 of a mile from my shop with weight restriction on it. been that way for years. I don't even run that route to get to my shop, but it is one of those weird anomalies that happens with route selection. the service I use failed to let me know that it kept getting rejected. it is a family run service. the (boss) mother/aunt has been in the hospital with shoulder surgery.so she cant keep them in line. if they would of notified me when it was rejected the first time I would of told them how to get around the problem as in the past. but NOOOOO! they just sat on it! when I received the permit today I have a dang requirement on it for a police escort and private escort! that is why it took so long it had to go to bridge review for approval! MORONS! so after a through butt chewing and a walk around the truckstop I am back to calm! ok done with rant going to bed so I can go truckin in the morning.

The private escort shouldn't have anything to do with the restriction. They're required based on your dimensions, as far as the osp escort does your aproval sheet say "over entire route" or "at restricted structure only"? If it's structure only and you won't be crossing that structure you don't need osp.

Know the feeling, been waiting on IN since yesterday morning and don't have it yet. I am in Morris and have to get to the site today to unload tomorrow or the customer can't take it off until Wednesday

Permit lady says "oh they are just being slow" after early in the week saying they issue quick. It is only like 40 #### miles

Its stories like these that make me feel confident I made the right decision to sell my operation back in 08. Permitting was always a pain in the ###. Part of the business though.........

If it ain't permits it's escorts. Both of them get me so pissed off at times I feel like throwing in the towel.

Lets have fun with Georgia permits from Chattanooga to the Savannah area, exact same dimensions.

So this was my permit for this past Monday-

Then yesterday I'm issued this permit, exact same dimensions, notice the very bold travel restrictions under the route-

So I get a call this morning from the lead trooper taking me out of here in the morning and he's holding a copy of this permit. Even though the law in Georgia states that when an OD load is under escort by GSP the escorting office makes the final decision on travel times, routes etc. this office is going by the permit and there's no way possible to make it from Dalton to Savannah in the 5 hour window. Luckily we do ALL permits in house and my little permit goddess got on the phone with ProMiles (the vendor for the state of Georgia for permits) and one of the head officers at the GSP and got me a new permit in the 11th hour without this restriction.

Oh and the difference between the final destination of Robert B Miller and Knowlton Way are just different gates leading onto the Savannah airport.

yes that is correct I knew that my point was I have ran this way for years to my shop with heaver loads than this. that was where the private escort and ohp was required . my shop is literately right before the restriction. the rookie that ordered it ended me at the next intersection instead of the address. but failed to keep me apprised of the mess up. like I had asked. the girls that were running the office that day didn't keep an eye on him to see if he was doing it correctly. THEN I found another screw up when I read the other permits I ordered. he had put the wrong tag number on the other permits. they ate a lot of $$$ today reordering permits for the states that would not amend them. even after I told him to make sure to put the correct one on. payback feels good!!
